5 Tips To Increase Your LinkedIn Profile Views

LinkedIn - better known as the "boardroom of social media". Sounds like fun, right? Well, fun is for Facebook and Instagram, although if you like writing articles, networking and if you're looking for the nest wrung on your career ladder, LinkedIn can be fun too!

Just like any social media account, it takes nurturing and consistency. If you've been following me for a while, you know about my 90 Day Challenge and keeping this consistency up is yes work, but can be very rewarding in the long - and short run.

This is what a notification will look like in your email for your profile views:

For someone that has been working hard to increase from 32 views - this view number makes me happy!

So how do you increase your views? Well here are 5 tips to put into practice right away.

  • Have an updated professional profile picture and make it public. Please don't use your wedding picture or a selfie, unless you can take a selfie and make it not look like you did. I remember I met someone for coffee and she didn't look at all like her profile picture. She then confessed that it was over 10 years old!

  • Have a creative summary. This is a great way to quickly bullet list your experience and what you're looking for. Keep it relevant to your job search or ideal client. One way that you can stand out a bit is to have your bullets be emoji's, like the bullseye or checkmark. You would have to do this on your phone, but its a great way to stand out.

  • Make sure to keep your skills section relevant to your industry. For instance if you worked at Jimmy Johns 15 years ago as a sandwich maker but are now in the finance industry, this position isn't relevant so it's not needed to include on your LinkedIn profile. This will also help with keywords when recruiters or potential clients are searching.

  • You really need to log in a couple times a week. See what your network is doing and comment on their posts and not just the prefilled ones either... don't be lazy. If the post really resonated with you, tell them so. Also don't just "like" a post use another icon, this will help you to stand out to the connection that posted. You also need to make sure to keep up with your messages and notifications.

  • Post on your account daily. Yep. If you are pushing hard and really want to get noticed, post daily, at least during the weekdays. Now this CAN be the same post you do on your Facebook Business Pages and Instagram. It'll really help you with your marketing efforts to see over time which content and graphics work on what platforms.
